I paint joy.

My name is Ellie and I think we all need more humor in our lives.

A few years ago, my teenage son and I went through a tough period. I felt compelled to pick up painting, again. Leaning into what we both needed most during that time: joy.

I started painting quirky animals that made us both laugh. Simple lighthearted joy and humor. Some days it felt like these animals were the only thing we could joke about together and feel connected.

I took an evening painting class, mostly to keep me consistent and give me some me time. This class inspired me to not only keep going, but to eventually pursue this full-time (dropping the corporate gig).

My art comes from being inspired by texture, color, nature and personalities. Finding images and learning about an animal’s funny behavior and habits gives me ideas and reason to start a new painting.

I want my art to bring joy to others, like it does for my son and I.
